In long periods the trade wind of the Pacific Ocean bloses from the same direction, whereby the movements of the sea is constant. A trained navigator can determine the course of the ship by observing the movements of the sea. This method was very usefull, especially in periods of clouded weather, where neither the sun nor the stars could be seen.
