Polynesian Voyaging Society (PVS) is an association based in Hawaii, the aim of which is to disseminate the knowledge of naviga-tion by old Polynesian traditions. PVS has a regular training program in traditional navigation, and has since 1976 completed several long sails in original vessels without the use of modern technical navigation aid.

Polynesian Voyaging Society's representative in Tahiti is called Karim Cowan and he is extraordinarily positive towards Ara-Moana. For a long time he has been wanting to start a school of traditional navigation in Tahiti, but he has been without a double canoe which could sail outside the lagoons. He is working for the official cultural center, OTAC (Office Territorial D'action Culturelle) and is hoping that OTAC, Hiti Tau and Ara-Moana would co-operate in establishing the school.
